Martin Kasavuli, the son of the late veteran TV personality Catherine Kasavuli, has shared a heartfelt conversation he had with his mother, where she hinted at her days coming to an end.
Reflecting on their travels together, Martin fondly remembered how his mother, Catherine, always loved sitting by the window in planes and buses.
"I miss traveling with Mama. Every time we went on a trip together, and most times I was the one making the bookings, she would always say, 'Remember, the window seat is mine.'"
"She has always been like that since the days of the 'msamaria mwema' bus. So one day, I asked her, 'Why do you love the window seat so much when we're paying the same ticket price?'"
Catherine then revealed her reasoning, explaining that one day, Martin would be the one sitting by the window when she is no longer around.
"Of course, I knew the reason why; she loves capturing scenes. She told me, 'Ah, you have many days ahead on this earth. The window seats will recognize you, but ours are running out.'"
Martin further shared his emotions, expressing how deeply he felt the impact of that conversation while traveling alone and sitting by the window. He realized the significance of the little moments shared with loved ones.
Ms. Catherine Kasavuli passed away in December of last year at Kenyatta National Hospital after battling cancer.
As the first female TV anchor in Kenya, she left a lasting legacy. Starting her career as a radio continuity announcer in 1980 at the Voice of Kenya, she made the transition to television in 1985. Throughout her career, she graced the screens as an anchor on various Kenyan TV stations, including KBC, Citizen TV, and KTN.
Martin's heartfelt recollection serves as a touching tribute to his mother's enduring love for capturing life's beautiful moments, reminding us of the importance of cherishing those precious times with loved ones.
