Nairobi, Kenya — Media and women’s digital safety advocate Queenter Bosibori Mbori, Executive Director of the Association for Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK), has been appointed as a member of the Global Cyber Safety Advisory Council (GCSAC) under its Cyber Harassment Support (CHS) initiative in Women’s Digital Safety & Media.
Mbori’s appointment places her among global voices contributing to conversations and efforts around women’s safety in an increasingly digital world.
According to AMWIK, Mbori was selected in recognition of her strategic leadership in media and women’s digital safety, as well as her practical experience addressing online harassment, sextortion awareness and the broader effects of technology-facilitated harms on women and communities.
The appointment comes at a time when online abuse and technology-enabled forms of harassment continue to pose significant challenges, particularly for women and girls. Issues such as cyber harassment, online intimidation, image-based abuse and sextortion can have consequences that extend beyond the digital space, affecting individuals’ personal safety, mental wellbeing, livelihoods and participation in public life.
Through her leadership at AMWIK, Mbori has been involved in advancing conversations around the safety of women in media and the digital environment. Her new role with GCSAC is expected to provide an opportunity to bring perspectives from Kenya and the wider African media landscape to global discussions on cyber safety and technology-facilitated harms.
