Kenya Kwanza MPs Ask Police to Arrest Raila & Uhuru

Barely hours after the end of Monday, March 20, mass action against President William Ruto's government, the Kenya Kwanza Coalition has pressured the Inspector General of Police, Japhet Koome, to arrest Azimio La Umoja Leader Raila Odinga.

In a statement that the National Assembly majority leader, Kimani Ichung'wah, read on Tuesday, March 21, the Kenya Kwanza Members of Parliament asked the police to review the evidence and charge Raila and his sponsors.

"We ask the IG of Police not just to arrest the small boys who are paid to riot. If the buck stops at the door of Odinga, go for Odinga. If the buck stops at his sponsor's door, go for them," Kimani Ichung'wah noted.

The MPs claimed that Raila and his Azimio La Umoja brigade went against the law by declaring an illegal Public Holiday.

According to Kenya Kwanza, Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta was sponsoring chaos to avert ongoing investigations into finances looted during his regime.

"Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake brother Raila Odinga are planning the demonstrations to derail ongoing investigations on the crimes committed under the previous regime.

"What Raila is doing is only equivalent to what the bandits parts of North Rift are doing. Mr Odinga is involved in a scheme of urban banditry and he must be held to account," Ichung'wah stated.

The coalition lamented that Azimio La Umoja will continue to breach peace with unlawful acts in the upcoming protests without proper accountability.

"The buck stops with Raila and his sponsors, and they must be held to account for the destructions that took place during the protest," Ichung'wah noted.

Kenya Kwanza planned on writing to the Registrar of Political Parties to withhold funds meant for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to compensate those who lost businesses and property.

"Our Secretary-General will demand that the money meant for ODM be given to our party as compensation for the destruction that took place in the Kisumu office," Ichung'wa revealed.

"What Raila is doing is only equivalent to what the bandits parts of North Rift are doing. Mr Odinga is involved in a scheme of urban banditry, and he must be held to account," Ichung'wah added in reference to Raila declaring protests every Monday until the government gives in to opposition demands.

On his part, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party Secretary-General Cleophas Malala wondered why Raila did not present his petition to President Ruto as he had earlier planned.

"We are asking Raila to buy bundles and check Google Maps so that he knows the location of State House from Serena Hotel. He had planned to go to State House, but we saw him in Eastleigh," Malala trolled Raila, adding that he would personally visit Kisumu to repair the destroyed UDA offices.

Earlier on, the Interior CS, Kindure Kithiki, lauded the police for manning the protesters with fewer casualties reported.

"The National Police Service (NPS) has done our Country proud, despite the day-long provocation by unruly protesters.

"Kenya must end impunity and apply one Constitution and one set of laws for everyone, for enduring peace and stability of our nation," Kindiki stated.
