The incident, captured on video and shared widely online, has sparked mixed reactions,with some people supporting Lumumba's decision while others questioned whether walking off the stage was an appropriate response.
Lumumba was in the middle of his presentation when he was informed that the governor was arriving and was asked to stop his presentation
The renowned Lawyer appeared displeased by the interruption, questioning whether the arrival of a senior government official should take precedence over the ongoing presentation.
"And that is part of the African problem . I'm now being stopped because the governor is coming. What is important,is it what we are saying or that the governor is coming?" he said.
"I will stop, but these are the kinds of things that hold Africa back, " Lumumba added before pausing his presentation.
Lumumba further criticized the governor for arriving after the programme had already begun, suggesting that his late arrival had disrupted the proceedings.
" The governor knew that we had a meeting. He chose to come to interrupt, and we are here celebrating , I'll stop, " he said as he walked off the stage.
