Nairobi, August 16, 2023 - Former television journalist Jacque Maribe, renowned for her association with Citizen Television, has announced her much-anticipated return to the screens after a hiatus of five years. Maribe's reentry into the media landscape comes following a period of legal challenges that had restricted her appearances due to her involvement in the murder case of businesswoman Ms. Monica Kimani.
Maribe and her former boyfriend, Joseph Irungu, commonly known as Jowie, were charged in connection with the murder case. The legal proceedings had led to court orders preventing her from appearing on television screens during the duration of the trial.
Taking to Twitter, Maribe hinted at her imminent return, stating, "September 1, 2022, I chose to only do stories here on IG. Well, shouldn't that change now on September 1, 2023? The sabbatical ends. Loading."
Maribe further revealed that her upcoming media venture will include a production format similar to her previous show, which featured interviews with high-profile government officials, politicians, and business figures. She has teased that this new phase will be even more significant and impactful.
Throughout her legal ordeal, Maribe took on an editorial position at Media Max, signaling her continued interest in media and storytelling. Her announcement of a media comeback suggests a determination to return to her passion and craft.
The High Court Judge overseeing the case, Lady Justice Grace Nzioka, has indicated that a ruling on the murder case will be delivered in October. Maribe and Jowie have consistently maintained their innocence in the matter.
The Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has urged the Nairobi Court to find both Maribe and Jowie guilty of the murder of Ms. Monica Kimani. The prosecution has presented its case, emphasizing elements of malice aforethought and asserting that the ingredients of murder have been successfully established.
Maribe's involvement in the case stemmed from allegations that her vehicle was used by Jowie to visit Ms. Kimani's residence. The motor vehicle in question was subsequently impounded by the police, later released, and returned to Maribe.
As Maribe prepares for her media comeback, her fans and followers await her return to the screen and the fresh perspectives she will bring to the realm of journalism and storytelling.
