The Kenya Meteorological Department's latest five-day forecast, covering September 18 to 22, points to mixed conditions across the country, with rainfall expected in several areas while others remain largely dry.
The forecast is particularly relevant for people travelling, farming or planning outdoor activities over the weekend.
Kenya Met's official five-day bulletin covers conditions from Friday through Tuesday and includes rainfall, temperature and wind forecasts across the country.
Parts of the central highlands, western Kenya and the coast are among areas likely to experience rainfall during the period.
Nairobi and neighbouring highland areas should also expect periods of cloud and relatively cool conditions.
The cold can become more noticeable at night and early in the morning in high-altitude counties.
Strong winds are another concern in some parts of the country.
Kenya Met's daily forecasts this week have warned of southerly to southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots, or about 12.5 metres per second, in parts of northern, eastern and coastal Kenya.
Such conditions matter beyond whether to carry an umbrella.
Strong winds can affect small boats and fishing activity at the coast, increase dust on dry roads and create difficulties for high-sided vehicles.
Rainfall can make roads slippery and reduce visibility, particularly during evening and early morning travel.
Farmers will also be watching the forecast closely as rainfall distribution, rather than simply the national amount of rain, determines whether conditions benefit crops and livestock in a particular area.
