NAIROBI, Kenya, October 15, 2026 — The People's Prosperity Party (PPP), led by presidential aspirant Eliud Owalo, has announced that it has received its full registration certificate from the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP), marking a significant administrative step in its preparations for Kenya's 2027 General Election.

In a statement, the party said the registration allows it to operate as a fully registered political party and pursue plans to field candidates for elective positions across the country, subject to the requirements of electoral law.

PPP further disclosed that it had submitted the names and specimen signatures of its authorised officials to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), in compliance with applicable legal requirements.

The development comes as Owalo advances his presidential ambitions under the party's political agenda, which centres on what he describes as Kenya's "Third Liberation", focusing on economic emancipation and shared prosperity.

PPP outlines nine-point economic agenda

According to the party, its political programme is anchored on nine thematic priorities intended to address Kenya's economic, governance and social challenges.

These include reducing taxes, improving public debt management and eradicating corruption in public institutions.

The party also proposes free primary and day secondary education, alongside free healthcare services in public hospitals, as part of its agenda to reduce the financial burden on households.

On economic transformation, PPP says it intends to accelerate Kenya's transition towards a digital and creative economy, with an emphasis on innovation, technology and new economic opportunities.

The party has also identified sports development as a national priority, outlining an ambition to position Kenya as a leading sporting nation in Africa.

Other commitments include upholding constitutionalism and the rule of law, as well as promoting equitable wealth distribution to support shared prosperity.

Owalo positions economic emancipation as key priority

Owalo has framed his political agenda around the argument that Kenya's next phase of national development should prioritise economic opportunities, affordability of essential services and more equitable access to national resources.

Through its Third Liberation agenda, PPP seeks to place economic reform at the centre of political debate ahead of the 2027 elections.

The party's proposals on taxation, education, healthcare and public debt are expected to form part of its policy platform as it prepares for the electoral contest.

However, the party has yet to demonstrate how all the proposed measures would be financed and implemented, particularly its commitments to expand free public services while reducing taxes.

Party prepares to field candidates in 2027

PPP said its full registration would enable it to establish political structures and prepare candidates for various elective positions across Kenya.

Under Kenya's electoral framework, full party registration is an important legal requirement, but it does not automatically qualify individual candidates for the ballot. Parties and candidates must still comply with nomination procedures, statutory deadlines and other IEBC requirements.

With the 2027 General Election approaching, PPP is expected to focus on developing its organisational structures, recruiting members and preparing for candidate nominations.

The party maintains that its political programme will be guided by the pursuit of economic emancipation, constitutional governance and equitable distribution of national wealth.
