President William Ruto is scheduled to address Kenyans at 6pm on Wednesday, 28 October, in a recorded announcement whose subject State House has not disclosed.
A media alert issued by State House Press Secretary Emmanuel Talam said the address would be broadcast simultaneously on the President’s official YouTube, Facebook, X, Instagram and TikTok accounts.
The notice invited members of the public and the media to follow the broadcast but offered no details about its contents.
That leaves Kenyans waiting for the announcement itself to establish whether it concerns government policy, the economy, politics or another national issue. There is currently no confirmed information in the alert to support speculation about what the President will say.
Ruto is in Russia for summit
The announcement comes as Ruto is in Moscow to attend the Russia-Africa Summit and the accompanying Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, scheduled for 28–30 October.
According to State House, the visit is intended to advance Kenya’s trade and investment interests, including market access for agricultural exports and partnerships in manufacturing, technology and other sectors.
However, State House has not said whether the evening announcement is connected to the President’s foreign visit.
What Kenyans should know
The broadcast is scheduled for 6pm East African Time and is expected to be available across the President’s official social media platforms.
Until the address is delivered, the subject and any decisions it may contain remain unknown. Any claims circulating online about its contents should therefore be treated cautiously unless supported by an official statement.
The announcement is expected to provide the first clear indication of what the President intends to communicate to the country.
