“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 7 (3) of the State Corporations Act, as read together with section 66 (1) (a) and (b) of the Water Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President and Commander in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, appoints Daniel Katama Mwaringa, as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Coast Water Works Development Agency,” the Notice read in part.

According to the notice, Mwaringa’s appointment took effect from February 1, 2023, for a period of one year to February 25, 2024.

“I appoint, Hafswa Abdalla Dele, Judith Wabosha Mwamburi, Mohamed Masoud Mwahima, as members of the Board of Directors of Coast Water Works Development Agency,” the Notice further stated.

Their terms were penned to end at the same time as those of Mwaringa.

Boga was appointed by former Water Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki under the Uhuru regime on February 26, 2021, for a period of three years.

He came into the limelight when he vied for the Msambweni Constituency by-election in 2020 under the Orange Democratic (ODM) Party.

Boga lost in the by-election to independent candidate Feisal Bader, an ally of Deputy President William Ruto who garnered 15,251 votes.

The by-election saw the rift between Uhuru and Ruto widen as the former president openly endorsed Boga who was vying through the opposition party while Bader was vying as an independent candidate

Ruto has been reorganizing his administration through a series of key appointments to various boards and parastatals.
