The battle to become the dominant political voice of Mt Kenya is becoming increasingly complicated, with Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro emerging as a direct challenge to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Gachagua has spent much of the period since his removal as deputy president attempting to consolidate the region behind his Democracy for the Citizens Party.
