Kenyan musician Kevin Kioko, popularly known as Bahati, has ignited discussions on social media after advising men without financial stability to steer clear of relationships.
In a recent Instagram post, Bahati shared his views on love and money while unveiling the sixth of eight gifts he has been giving his wife, Diana Marua, to celebrate their eight-year marriage anniversary.
According to the singer, relationships require financial investment, and men who wish to love and be loved must be willing to spend on their partners.
"Dear Men, a respectful piece of advice 🙏 If you don’t have money, don’t date 🫣 That’s the only way you’ll stop calling women gold diggers 😎 In my next post, I’ll show you how much I spent on Gift No.6 for my wife—Lovers’ Jewelry," Bahati wrote.
His comments sparked mixed reactions, with some agreeing that relationships involve financial responsibility, while others argued that true love should not be measured by material wealth.
Bahati’s Grand Anniversary Surprises
For the past two weeks, Bahati has been trending due to the extravagant gifts he has showered on Diana to mark their eighth anniversary. These include land, a housing project, and other luxury surprises. One of the most talked-about gestures was when he got a tattoo of "Diana B" on his arm as a symbol of commitment.
Karen Nyamu’s Contrasting View
Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu recently shared a different perspective on relationships and finances. In a February 5th Instagram post, Nyamu argued that women do have money but only spend it on men they truly like.
"If she doesn’t spend on you, then she doesn’t like you. Women have money," Nyamu wrote, challenging the belief that women are always the ones receiving in relationships.
