President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto, drew attention as she walked down the aisle with her parents during her white wedding to Tanzanian entrepreneur Isaya Yunge in Mwanza on Friday, November 6.
Charlene wore a fitted, long-sleeved white lace gown decorated with sparkling beadwork. A flowing train and sheer veil completed the look, while her bouquet added a touch of colour to the ceremony’s predominantly white setting.
The outdoor wedding featured a mirrored aisle leading towards a large white floral arch. Rows of white flowers lined the walkway, creating a garden-style setting for the ceremony.
But one of the most memorable moments came when President Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto joined their daughter as she made her way towards the altar.
The couple escorted Charlene for part of the walk, sharing a family moment that drew cheers and applause from guests. Their presence placed the President and First Lady at the centre of one of the day’s most personal moments.
Rachel wore a floral-patterned outfit with a wide-brimmed hat, while the President appeared in a coordinated formal look. Their appearance added to the occasion’s visual highlights.
From Kilgoris to Mwanza
The wedding brought together celebrations that had unfolded across Kenya and Tanzania over several months.
Charlene and Yunge held their traditional Kalenjin Koito ceremony on August 8 at Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County. The event brought together relatives and guests from both families for a traditional celebration marking an important stage in their union.
In the days before the white wedding, Charlene also shared glimpses of the celebrations with friends and family in Nairobi.
Her bridal shower, held on November 3, had a white-and-purple theme. Her sister Stephanie was among those who joined the gathering.
The celebrations also included a family blessing led by her mother, Rachel, with aunties and close friends praying for the couple as Charlene prepared for marriage.
The choice of Mwanza for the white wedding also reflected the coming together of the two families across national borders. Yunge is Tanzanian, and the ceremony brought the celebrations to his home country after the traditional event in Kenya.
For Charlene, the day marked the close of a long series of family and cultural celebrations and the beginning of married life with Yunge.
While the gown and floral setting attracted attention, the moment that stood out was the one shared with her parents as they accompanied her towards the altar.
