Kenyans across several regions have been advised to brace for intermittent rainfall over the weekend, as detailed in a five-day forecast from the Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met). Covering the period from Friday, November 8, to Tuesday, November 12, the advisory urges residents in specific areas—including Nairobi, Mombasa, and other counties—to prepare for potential rains and occasional storms.
The weather report indicates that rainfall will affect regions such as the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, South-eastern lowlands, the Coast, and North-eastern Kenya. Rainfall is expected primarily from Friday through Sunday, with some areas possibly experiencing isolated thunderstorms.
During the initial part of the forecast period (November 8–10), showers and occasional storms are expected, with conditions turning mostly sunny and dry from Monday to Tuesday. In Nairobi, rains are forecasted to begin on Saturday night, following a warm Saturday morning, while the coastal regions are likely to see showers in the mornings and at night.
Counties expecting rainfall include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Marsabit, Mandera, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot. Residents in these areas are advised to stay cautious, as the rains could bring isolated thunderstorms.
Kenya Met also highlighted that temperatures across the country would vary. Nairobi can expect maximum daytime temperatures between 28°C and 29°C, with cooler nights. Coastal areas, including Mombasa and Kilifi, will experience warmer weather, with daytime temperatures of 33°C to 34°C and nights between 22°C and 25°C.
Additionally, the advisory notes that counties such as Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo, Kilifi, and Lamu should prepare for warmer daytime conditions.
