During a visit to Ireland, President Donald Trump said that "negative forces" were raising AI concerns that "won’t happen", adding that such warnings should not be given much weight. His remarks came after a former Anthropic researcher warned of a "strong chance that we could all die in the immediate future" if the current pace of AI development continued, and after top AI executives – including Elon Musk of xAI, Sam Altman of OpenAI and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei – called for a coordinated slowdown to reduce the risk of serious mishaps.
