President William Ruto has made changes to the leadership of the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC), replacing former KTN presenter Kathleen Openda with former Police Spokesman Charles Owino.
Effective Appointment Date
The appointment was announced in a Gazette Notice on Friday, with the effective date set for September 29, 2023. Charles Owino's term as the KIMC chair is slated to run for one year.
KIMC: Training Ground for Communication Professionals
KIMC is a state learning institution with a primary focus on training journalists and other communication professionals.
Charles Owino's Background
Before his appointment as KIMC Chair, Charles Owino had been serving as the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party's Siaya County Coordinator. In this role, he was responsible for enhancing the delivery of party programs and activities within the county.
