Retired Ambassador Nicholas Mugo, the husband to Jubilee Nominated Senator, Beth Mugo is dead.
In a statement issued to the media, his family confirmed that he died at the Nairobi Hospital on Thursday, February 3.
The 86-year-old died while receiving treatment after a prolonged illness. Mugo, will be cremated on Friday, February 4 in a private ceremony.
“With profound sadness and sorrow, I wish to announce the death of my husband, Amb. Nicholas Mugo, that happened early this morning at the Nairobi Hospital after a long illness,” Mugo’s statement read in part.
The Mugos had in 2019 celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in a colourful ceremony attended by the Senator’s cousin – President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Born in Gatundu, Mugo attended Kagumo High School. He was among the first Kenyans to attain a university education having been part of the pioneer group of Kenyan students that secured scholarships to study in America.
The partnership between the late Tom Mboya, the late Dr Julius Kiano and the late John F. Kennedy, the then President of the United States of America (USA), saw him join Warren Wilson College in North Carolina.
