BBC reports on Khan al‑Ahmar and Maale Adummim amid UK settlement sanctions

The United Kingdom imposed sanctions on what it described as illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, a move that has triggered a series of Israeli counter‑measures aimed at UK nationals and organisations.

The sanctions were announced after Israel opened tenders for the construction of settlement homes in the strategically important E1 area east of Jerusalem, a development that has drawn widespread international condemnation for its potential to split the West Bank and isolate East Jerusalem.

BBC Middle East Correspondent Lucy Williamson visited the Palestinian community of Khan al‑Ahmar in the E1 zone and the nearby Israeli settlement of Maale Adummim to report on the situation on the ground.
