Six people accused of obstructing the operation of vehicles along Taifa Road in Nairobi have pleaded not guilty before a Milimani resident magistrate.

The six appeared before Resident Magistrate Irene Thamara on August 18, 2026, where they denied the charge of obstructing the operation of vehicles on a road contrary to Section 58(c) of the Road Act, Chapter 408 of the Laws of Kenya.

According to the charge sheet, the accused allegedly committed the offence on August 17, 2026, along Taifa Road in Nairobi, jointly with others who have not been brought before the court.

The prosecution alleges that they unlawfully obstructed the operation of vehicles along the road by barricading it using two dummy wooden caskets and two small wooden crosses.

The six are identified as Collins Otieno, Nyanom Joshua, Mulinge Muteti, Julius Kamau, Michael Ngige and Elisha Ochieng.
The prosecution did not oppose the accused persons being released on bail terms.

The court subsequently granted each accused person a bond of KSh40,000 with one surety, or an alternative cash bail of KSh3,000.

“Consequently, the accused persons are released on a bond of KSh40,000 with one surety or an alternative cash bail of KSh3,000,” the magistrate ordered.

The court directed the accused persons to attend court whenever required.

The case will be mentioned on August 31, 2026, for further directions.
