West Ham United’s all-time top Premier League scorer, Michail Antonio, is set to be listed as a free agent this summer—but his future at the club remains undecided due to what the club has called a “unique situation.”

The 35-year-old forward's contract expires on 30 June, but West Ham has stated no final decision on his future will be made until the time is “right and appropriate.”

Antonio is still recovering from a serious car accident that occurred six months ago in Epping Forest, where his Ferrari skidded off the road and crashed into a tree. He suffered a broken leg, requiring surgery and a three-week stay in hospital.

Club Prioritizes Antonio’s Well-Being

In a statement, West Ham emphasized that supporting Antonio during his recovery remains their “absolute priority.”

Although he will appear on the Premier League’s official free transfer list due to procedural requirements, the club has not ruled out discussions on a potential return or another form of support once he’s fully recovered.

Antonio, a Jamaica international, joined West Ham from Nottingham Forest in 2015 for a reported fee of £7 million. He has gone on to become a fan favourite and record goal-scorer, with 68 goals in 268 Premier League appearances.

End of an Era at West Ham

Antonio is not the only player departing this summer. Kurt Zouma, 30, will also leave the club at the end of June. The France international, who is currently on loan at Al-Orobah FC in the Saudi Pro League, joined West Ham four years ago.

West Ham has also confirmed that Aaron Cresswell, Vladimir Coufal, Lukasz Fabianski, and Danny Ings will all exit when their contracts expire.

The departures mark a changing of the guard at the London Stadium, as the club looks ahead to a new chapter under manager Julen Lopetegui.
