The Kenya Editors Guild (KEG) has appointed journalist Linda Bach as its new Chief Executive Officer, with her term beginning on 16 October 2025.

Bach, a former editor at Standard Group, steps into the role after Rosalia Omungo, who has led the guild for the past eight years.

In a statement to members, KEG President Zubeidah Kananu hailed Omungo’s stewardship. “Rosalia’s leadership has been sterling, and we wish her every success in her next chapter,” she said.

Turning to the new CEO, Kananu added: “Linda brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role, and we are confident that her leadership will drive the organisation forward.”

As part of her new role, Bach will step down from her position as Council Member, Print on KEG’s Executive Council. That seat will now be filled by Andy Kagwa of Standard Group.

Meanwhile, Millicent Awuor has been named chairperson of the Programmes Committee, replacing Bach in that capacity.

The guild, which represents senior editors across Kenya, plays a central role in safeguarding press freedom, setting professional standards, and amplifying the voices of journalists in national debates.

Bach’s appointment is seen as a continuation of KEG’s mission to strengthen editorial independence at a time when the media industry faces both technological shifts and political pressures.
