Nairobi, Kenya — Musician and entrepreneur Akothee has come out in strong support of TikTok star Azziad Nasenya, whose Ksh25 million apartment in Kileleshwa is reportedly facing auction.

In a candid social media post, Akothee urged Kenyans to stop mocking the 25-year-old, instead praising her boldness in securing a bank loan at such a young age.

“Let’s stop bullying Azziad, pick a struggle! First and foremost, I respect and love this girl even more for dreaming bigger. That’s exactly the way to go,” Akothee wrote.

She argued that Azziad’s move showed vision and courage. “At just 25 years old, Azziad can acquire a loan and buy herself a house. That’s commendable!” she added.

The singer also took aim at critics. “Some of the men criticising her don’t even qualify for a motorbike loan and are still living in rental houses they can barely afford. Let’s celebrate courage, not condemn it,” she said.

Akothee drew on her own past struggles to highlight the point. “Some of us, at 25, had already survived 70 failed marriages, were raising children alone, torn between returning to our parents’ homes or sleeping on the streets — with zero bank accounts, no jobs, no certificates, and no direction,” she shared.

Reports that Azziad’s apartment is set for auction have sparked heated debate online. Some Kenyans mocked her financial woes, while others sympathised with the pressures young influencers face to maintain a high-profile lifestyle.

Akothee’s message, however, cut through the noise, reframing the conversation around ambition, risk, and resilience.

Her public defence of Azziad has amplified the wider question of how society treats young people who dare to take big steps — even when those steps stumble.
