The government has released Sh881 million to support vulnerable households through the Inua Jamii programme for the August 2025 payment cycle.

In a statement dated 29 September, the Ministry of Gender, Culture and Children Services confirmed that the funds will reach 440,537 households enrolled in the Cash Transfer for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (CT-OVC) programme.

Each household is set to receive Sh2,000, with payments processed through the eCitizen platform.

Principal Secretary Carren Ageng’o, in her signed statement, said: “This disbursement covers the August 2025 payment, and each beneficiary household is receiving a sum of Sh2,000.”

The CT-OVC is part of the government’s wider Inua Jamii social protection framework, which provides support to orphans, vulnerable children, elderly citizens, and persons with severe disabilities.

According to the Ministry, the programme aims to keep vulnerable children within families and communities while promoting their education, health, and overall well-being.

Independent evaluations have shown that regular cash transfers help stabilise household income, enabling families to pay school fees, access healthcare, and buy food.

Officials say the use of digital platforms such as eCitizen has improved transparency and minimised leakages in the distribution of funds.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to timely payments and accountability, urging beneficiaries to confirm their details on the official platform and report any issues.

With more than 440,000 households reached this month, the CT-OVC continues to be one of the state’s most impactful interventions, directly addressing poverty and child vulnerability in Kenya.
