Kenya’s number of coronavirus infections rose to 37,781 on Saturday, with the Health ministry reporting 164 new cases after testing 3,872 samples in the last 24 hours.
In a statement, Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mutahi Kagwe also announced seven more deaths, which raised the toll to 689, and 77 more recoveries, which raised the total to 24,581.
Of the recovered patients, 40 were treated in hospitals and 37 at home.
The 3,872 samples raised the total number tested in Kenya since the virus outbreak in March to 536,601. The virus was first reported in Wuhan, China, on December 31, 2019.

Nairobi recorded 41 new infections, Busia 22, Kisumu 17, Turkana 14, Embu 12, Mombasa 11 and Nakuru 10.
West Pokot followed with six cases, Trans Nzoia five, Narok, Machakos and Uasin Gishu four each, Kilifi three, and Bungoma, Kiambu and Marsabit two each. Kakamega, Kericho, Nandi, Siaya and Taita Taveta each had just one new case.
