Globally, there is an increasing emergence of highly resistant bacteria (superbugs) that are jeopardizing the efficiency of antibiotics, drugs that have played a vital role in reducing disease and mortality in both humans and animals. Superbugs are known to kill approximately 700,000 people every year, and projected to cause 10 million deaths annually by 2050.

We collected samples from different supermarkets in six counties namely Nairobi, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Kisumu, Laikipia and Nyeri.
