Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu on Monday, January 16, listed the ten schools which received the highest number of applications beyond their capacity.

Speaking outside Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), the CS highlighted top schools such as Kabianga High School, Nakuru high school, Nanyuki high school, and Alliance Girls School among others.

He, however, pointed out that the placement exercise indicated that most candidates were not adequately guided by their respective principals and teachers.

"During the selection process, it became clear that a large number of candidates did not receive proper guidance when choosing a school. These resulted in some schools getting far many applicants against their capacity. No one will be able to go beyond the capacity," he stated.

"There are schools where we get so many applicants yet the capacity is few hence it is not possible for all candidates to be placed in their dream schools," he added.

The Education CS affirmed that the reporting period for the KCPE candidates would be from February 6, 2023, to February 13, 2023.

Candidates were advised to access the Form One placement via text or website. The candidates can send a message in the format (Index No) to 22263. The service attracts charges depending on the mobile service provider.

Information on placement is also available on the Ministry of Education portal www(dot)education(dot)go(dot)ke and click the 'Form One Placements' icon.

"For any queries, check on the 'frequently asked questions (FAQ) section. Assistance may be obtained by writing an email to placement(at)education(dot)go(dot)ke," Machogu announced.
