The dramatic rescue of Ciku Muiruri’s daughter, Erica Gachoka, 26, and her friend Shanice Agose, 27, was the result of a tip-off that led to the arrest of two suspects.

The suspects were arrested in Weitethie, along Thika Road, on June 11, 2023, after one of them was found with Erica’s ID card.

The suspects had been demanding a ransom of Sh500,000 for the release of the two women.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) acted on a tip-off and arrested the two suspects.

The suspects led the police to a house in Weitethie where the two women were being held captive.

The two women were unharmed and were reunited with their families.

Ciku Muiruri, who is a media personality, had been holding a novena prayer on her official Facebook page for the safe return of her daughter.

She had also asked Kenyans to join her in praying for the two women.

The arrest of the two suspects is a major breakthrough in the case and is a testament to the hard work of the DCI.

It is also a reminder to Kenyans to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the police.
