The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has provided key guidelines to help students increase their chances of securing their desired degree or diploma courses.
In a notice dated Wednesday, April 2, KUCCPS advised applicants to choose universities where the previous cut-off points for their preferred courses are lower than their own cluster weight. This strategy enhances the likelihood of admission based on past placement trends.
Understanding Cluster Weight and Cut-off Points

Cluster weight: A student's computed performance in the four key subjects required for a specific degree program.

Cut-off point: The cluster weight of the last student admitted to a course in the previous admission cycle.
By comparing their cluster weight (available on the KUCCPS portal) with the 2024 cut-off points, students can make informed choices about the programs they are most likely to secure.
Steps to Increase Your Chances of Placement

Use the KUCCPS Search Tool – On the "All Programmes" page, type in keywords such as Education, Agriculture, or Nursing to find available courses and their cut-off points.

Check Minimum Requirements – Before applying, confirm that you meet the minimum subject requirements for the course.

Prioritize Your Choices – Arrange program codes in order of preference, ensuring your top choice is listed first.

Submit and Pay – Once satisfied with the selections, click "Submit" and proceed to pay the Ksh 1,500 application fee.
Application Deadline
The KUCCPS portal officially opened on March 28, 2025, for Degree and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses. The application window will remain open for 21 days, closing on April 21, 2025.
KUCCPS has urged 2024 KCSE candidates to apply early, while TVET and Teacher Training College (TTC) applications remain open to students who sat for the KCSE exams from 2000 to 2024.
