In an attempt to rein in the soaring wage bill, civil servants will not witness any upward adjustment in their monthly salaries, as per the directive issued by government officials during the 3rd National Wage Bill Conference at the Bomas of Kenya.

During the conference, Lyn Mengich, Chairperson of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), emphasized the importance of fiscal sustainability and harmonization, advising employers against entertaining salary reviews without demonstrated affordability and sustainability.

Mengich also underscored the necessity for all institutions to align with the 50th percentile midpoint in salary offerings, urging those lagging behind to expedite the process.

Felix Koskei, Head of Public Service, urged patience among civil servants, citing the country's economic challenges and the government's inability to allocate additional funds for salary increments.
