Driving licences, vehicle services, and more to be temporarily offline

Planning to renew your driver’s licence or transfer a vehicle this weekend? You might want to hold off.

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced an 18-hour system maintenance that will affect almost all of its services.

In a statement released Friday, June 20, NTSA said the planned maintenance will begin at 10:00 p.m. Friday night and run until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 21.

During this window, users should expect service interruptions across the board. “All our services will be intermittently unavailable,” NTSA said.

What Will Be Affected?

1. Licensing Services:
You won’t be able to apply for or renew your driving licence, request a provisional licence (PDL), convert a foreign licence, or replace a smart driving licence. Booking and checking test appointments will also be down.

2. Motor Vehicle Services:
Vehicle registration, ownership transfer, logbook replacements, and inspection bookings will be offline. You also won’t be able to access vehicle verification records, apply for reflective number plates, or update vehicle details.

3. Corporate Services:
If you're a dealer, financier, or fleet manager—services like trade licence applications, asset tracking for logbook loans, and fleet registration will all be affected.

4. Traffic Offence and Compliance Services:
This includes traffic fines (via eCitizen), roadworthiness certificates, and checking violation records. All will be unavailable.

5. PSV Services:
Key functions like applying for PSV badges, licenses, and route allocations won’t be accessible either.

6. Road Safety and Admin Services:
You also won’t be able to submit safety complaints, access road safety data, or request educational materials. Even basic support tasks like logging into TIMS accounts or replacing lost documents will be paused.

NTSA apologized for the inconvenience, urging users to plan ahead and schedule services before or after the maintenance window.
