President William Ruto has accused the previous regime of perpetrating a fraud through the implementation of the Huduma Namba initiative. In a speech delivered on Friday, the President expressed his belief that the process of introducing digital identity cards had been extremely traumatic for the Kenyan people. Ruto stated that the country had lost approximately Sh15 billion as a result of Huduma Namba and received little in return.

During the speech, President Ruto emphasized the need to obtain digital identification within the next 90 days. He argued that it was possible to achieve this goal without incurring such a substantial cost. Ruto expressed his disappointment with the fraudulent nature of the project, urging those responsible to feel ashamed of their actions.
