The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a fresh warning: expect a cold, wet, and windy week ahead.

From Monday, June 24 to Friday, June 28, different parts of the country will experience a mix of cold mornings, rainfall, and sunny intervals.


Mount Kenya Region: Bundle Up

If you're in Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Meru, Embu, or Tharaka Nithi, get ready for chilly starts and possible rain.

  • Tuesday & Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with light showers in some areas.

  • Thursday to Saturday: Expect rainfall, especially in the morning and afternoon.

  • Temperature range: Lows of 6°C, highs of 26°C.


Rift Valley, Western Kenya & Lake Region: Wet Days Ahead

Counties likely to be affected include Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, Migori, Trans Nzoia, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, and Nakuru, among others.

  • Morning hours: Mostly sunny.

  • Later in the day: Intermittent showers.

  • Temperature range: 9°C to 28°C.


North-Eastern Kenya: Hot With a Hint of Rain

In Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo, expect mostly sunny skies with a slight chance of rain on Wednesday afternoon.

  • Highs could hit 37°C.

  • Lows will hover around 15°C.


South-Eastern Lowlands: Cloudy Starts, Sunny Afternoons

Counties like Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, and inland parts of Tana River will start the day under cloudy skies, which will clear into sunny afternoons.

  • Temperatures will range from 11°C to 31°C.


Coastal Kenya: Sunshine with Rain on the Way

In Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Lamu, and coastal Tana River, expect sunny mornings early in the week, but showers will likely return later.

  • Temperatures: 22°C to 31°C.
