President William Ruto on Thursday, November 10, announced the government's plan to adopt electric motorbikes that will use renewable energy.
Ruto noted there is no hindrance to adopting clean energy in the country in a bid to phase out the use of fossil fuels.
"We want to see how we can move all our boda boda guys to use clean energy, there is no reason why we should not begin to walk the journey towards e-mobility" Ruto explained.

The president was speaking on Thursday, November 10 at St. Andrew's PCEA during the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) annual general meeting.
Ruto encouraged all motorists and boda boda riders to embrace clean energy and e-mobility. This, Ruto stated, was in line with the goal ofcurbing the effects of climate change.
"We should be able to covert all the boda boda we have into electric bikes and they can use renewable energy to charge and we can progressively eliminate fossil fuels," he added
Furthermore, Ruto remarked that the government is focused on the use of solar energy and wind energy as fuel.
Ruto declared that the government will work with the Juakali sector to help implement the plan.
"We have the intention of following through with the e-mobility and renewable energy plan," Ruto announced.
Notably, during the launch of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance manifesto on June 30, Ruto vowed to promote the use of electric vehicles in the country.
He vowed to erect accessible charging ports in all urban areas and along major highways. Additionally, Ruto pledged to get foreign investors interested n the elctric vehicles industry.
"We will provide financial and tax incentives for public service vehicles and commercial transporters to convert to electric vehicles," he stated.
